Disclosure: We build Splitceipt. Splid details were checked against its official website and App Store listing on October 6, 2026.
Short answer: If Splid’s single free group or manual-only entry is holding you back, Splitceipt is a free alternative with unlimited groups, AI receipt scanning, and item-by-item splits. Friends without the app can follow along through a Guest link. If you need offline use or no account at all, Splid is still the better fit.

Why people look for a Splid alternative
- One free group. Splid’s free version covers one group. A second trip, flat, or friend group means an in-app purchase.
- No receipt scanning. Every expense is typed in by hand.
- No item-level splits. When people ordered different things, you work out each person’s share yourself before entering it.
Where Splitceipt is better
Unlimited groups for free
Create a group for every trip, flat, and dinner circle without paying. Unlimited manual bills, balances, and settle-up tracking are free too.
Scan the receipt, assign the items
Point your camera at a receipt. Splitceipt reads the items, tax, and tip, then you tap who had what. Tax and tip are shared out proportionally, so nobody pays for someone else’s main course. See how to split a receipt with friends.
Friends don’t need the app
Add friends as name-only guests and send them a private Guest link. They see their share and record their repayment in a browser, with no download or sign-up. Only the person creating the bill needs the app.
Settle up with payment details ready
Splitceipt shows who owes whom. Save your payment handle once and it is added to every bill you create, so friends know how to pay you. Mark a balance as settled in one tap.
Where Splid is better
- No account, works offline. Splid lets you start a group without signing up and add expenses with no connection. Splitceipt needs internet, and the person creating bills needs an account.
- One-time purchase. Splid’s extras are paid once. Splitceipt Pro is a subscription.
- PDF export on the free plan. Splid exports a PDF summary; Splitceipt exports PDF and CSV with Pro.
- Currency conversion. Splid converts currencies automatically. Splitceipt keeps a separate balance for each currency and does not convert yet.
Which one should you pick?
Pick Splitceipt if:
- You need more than one group without paying
- You split restaurant bills or groceries where people had different items
- You would rather scan a receipt than type it in
- Some friends won’t install another app
Stay with Splid if:
- Nobody in your group, including you, wants an account
- You often add expenses without a connection, like on remote trips
- You prefer paying once over a subscription
Switching from Splid
Splitceipt does not import Splid groups. Export your Splid group as a PDF or Excel file for your records, then recreate only the groups and open balances you still need.
