Split expenses, not friendships
Your account will be deactivated immediately. All personal data is permanently and irreversibly erased after a 30-day window. You can cancel the deletion at any time within those 30 days by simply logging back in. After 30 days there is no recovery option.
You can delete your account directly from within the app in a few steps:
Open the Splitceipt app
Launch Splitceipt on your Android or iOS device and sign in if prompted.
Go to your Profile
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner to open the navigation drawer, then tap Profile.
Scroll to the Danger Zone section
Scroll to the bottom of the Profile screen until you see the DANGER ZONE section.
Tap "Delete Account"
Tap the Delete Account row. A confirmation dialog will appear explaining the 30-day deletion window and what will happen to your data.
Confirm deletion
Tap "Delete My Account" to confirm. Your account is deactivated immediately - you are logged out and cannot log back in. All personal data is permanently erased after 30 days. You can cancel within that window by simply logging back in.
If you are unable to access the app, you can request account deletion by email:
Send an email to support@splitceipt.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include your registered email address. We will process your request within 7 business days and send a confirmation.
Can I recover my account after deletion?
Yes - but only within the 30-day window. Simply log back in using the same method you used before (Google, Apple, or email OTP). Your account will be fully restored and the deletion cancelled automatically. After 30 days the erasure is permanent and cannot be reversed.
What happens to bills and expenses I created?
Your bills remain intact for the other participants so they can continue tracking and settling debts. After the 30-day window your name on those bills is replaced with "Deleted User". The amounts, splits, and balances are unchanged.
What happens to bills I was invited to?
Your participation record stays in place so the other participants see accurate balances. Your name is replaced with "Deleted User" after the 30-day window. The amounts owed or paid are not altered.
What happens if I owe or am owed money?
Outstanding balances are not cleared automatically. Other participants will see "Deleted User owes $X" or "You owe Deleted User $X" and can mark those balances as settled manually at any time.
What happens to groups I own?
If you are the only member, the group is deleted along with your account. If others are in the group, the longest-standing active member is automatically promoted to owner and receives an in-app notification. Group expenses and history are unaffected.
Will other group members be notified that I deleted my account?
No. Your deletion is a private action. Other members will not receive any push notification or email about it. If you owned a group, the newly promoted owner receives an in-app notification about their promotion - but not about the reason.
What if I subscribed to Splitceipt Pro?
Deleting your Splitceipt account does not cancel your Google Play or App Store subscription. You must cancel your subscription separately through your platform's subscription management settings before or after deletion.
I can't access the app - can I delete via email?
Yes. Email us at support@splitceipt.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include your registered email address. We will process the request within 7 business days and send you a confirmation.
